Impact Dance is an art-for-social change organisation that specialises in Hip-Hop Theatre, Street Dance and Youth Development. With a UK-wide reach and a global footprint, we are now based on Shaftesbury Avenue in London.
Founded by Hakeem Onibudo in 1995, Impact Dance empowers young people aged 11-19 through dance training, mentoring, national and international performances.
We engage young people of diverse backgrounds – particularly those considered ‘hard-to-reach’ and ‘under-privileged’ – to develop their performative and creative abilities and become fully functioning individuals.
We strongly believe that all our stakeholders must share our values, so young people, parents and the team were involved in the process of defining Impact Dance’s values. Together, we have chosen the following:
- Safe
- Empowerment
- Teamwork
- Growth
Impact was my saviour.

At Impact Dance we strive to empower young people and enrich society through dance.
Over the past 28 years, we have collaborated with organisations such as Sadler’s Wells, Royal Ballet and Channel 4. We are recognised in the youth dance sector for having benefitted more than 13,800 young people with our dedicated energy and support.
By using dance to connect with young people we aim to:
- Develop their self-confidence and leadership skills
- Increase their self-motivation to achieve their goals
- Encourage their self-discipline
At Impact Dance we enable young people to MOVE, GROW as individuals and BE who they want to be.
The company has always had an ethos of togetherness, family and leadership.
