Niah Mckenzie’s journey at Impact Dance transformed her from a young dancer discovering her style into a confident performer and mentor. The company gave her the space to explore freestyle, develop her craft, and connect with a wider creative community. Today, Niah works professionally as a dancer, coaches young people, and contributes to creative projects at major studios, including Warner Bros.
The Impact Effect
Impact Dance didn’t just teach Niah steps and routines – it built her confidence and helped her realise the power of movement as a form of self-expression. “If it wasn’t for Impact Dance, I’d probably still see freestyle as the dreaded F word and miss out on discovering the joy of expressing myself through movement,” she explains. The encouragement, mentorship, and collaborative spirit at Impact provided a strong foundation for her professional path.
Best Memories / Highlights
One of Niah’s favourite experiences was travelling to Amsterdam for the first time with Impact. Connecting with young dancers abroad while bonding with her teammates left a lasting impression. She also remembers supporting upcoming artists like Lavaud and Tyler Lewis, and performing in projects like Maleigh Zan at the Great Escape Festival 2025 and a Bollywood movie in Mumbai (WAR 2, June 2025).
Life After Impact
Since her time at Impact, Niah has grown into a professional dancer and mentor, combining performance with teaching. She actively supports emerging artists and continues to expand her creative horizons internationally. “Impact showed me how dance can connect people, inspire confidence, and create opportunities I never imagined,” she reflects.
Connecting with other young dancers abroad and bonding with my own teammates is definitely a highlight of my time at Impact Dance.
