What is Summer@Impact?

Summer@Impact is a high-energy dance summer school designed for young dancers aged 11-19. Across four days, participants explore different styles, learn choreography, and develop their creative voice through workshops led by experienced dance artists.

The programme blends technical training, creative exploration, and community-building, giving dancers a chance to challenge themselves while having fun.

Each summer school also finishes with a studio sharing or performance, giving participants the chance to celebrate everything they’ve learned during the week.

What to Expect

Young people taking part in our Summer@Impact dance summer school can look forward to:

Four days of dance workshops and classes
Training with professional artists and guest teachers
Creative choreography sessions
Technique and foundational dance training
Opportunities to collaborate with other dancers
Fun extras like games, films, and social time
A final studio sharing or performance for friends and family

Our goal is to create a positive, supportive environment where young people can explore their creativity and feel confident expressing themselves through dance.

Our summer school dancers come from a variety of dance backgrounds, from students already training regularly to those looking for a fun and inspiring summer dance experience.

Teachers

Summer@Impact workshops are led by Impact Dance artists and guest teachers from the professional dance industry.

Our faculty brings together a mix of choreography, teaching expertise, and real-world performance experience to create a dynamic learning environment for young dancers at our dance summer school.

Previous Summer@Impact sessions have included teaching from:

Hakeem Onibudo – Artistic Director of Impact Dance
Nia James – Lead Artist at Impact Dance
Olivia Francis – Lead Artist at Impact Dance
Guest artists and industry professionals such as Bismark Anobah, Caldonia Walton, and D’Andre Elizah.

Guest teachers vary each year and bring fresh styles, perspectives, and creative energy to the programme. Young people are also able to drop-in to guest teacher sessions if they are unable to commit to the full four-day experience.

When Does It Happen?

Summer@Impact takes place once each summer, usually across four consecutive days in August.

The next dance summer school programme dates and timetable are announced each year in advance.
