Freelance Interim Finance & HR Lead

£350 – £400 per day

Impact Dance Foundation is looking for an experienced freelance Finance & HR Lead to join us for three months and provide stability, expertise and practical support during a period of transition.

This is a hands-on interim role for someone who can quickly get to grips with a small organisation, work confidently and independently, and provide trusted support to our CEO, staff team and Board.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll take the lead on our day-to-day finance and HR functions, including:

Oversight of budgets, cashflow, management accounts and financial reporting

Monitoring income, expenditure and restricted funding, including Arts Council England/NPO funding

Providing clear financial information and advice to the CEO and Board

Acting as the senior point of contact for HR and people matters

Supporting managers with employee relations, contracts, recruitment and other HR processes

Ensuring our finance and HR practices remain compliant, well managed and on track

Identifying and escalating key financial, employment and organisational risks

Supporting a smooth handover into our longer-term management arrangements

Who we’re looking for

You’ll be an experienced finance and people professional who is comfortable working autonomously in a small or medium-sized organisation.

You’ll need strong practical experience of budgets, management accounts, forecasting and cashflow, alongside good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR practice.

You’ll be confident working with senior leaders and Boards, able to handle sensitive issues with sound judgement and discretion, and good at making finance and HR understandable to non-specialists.

Experience in a charity, CIC, arts or cultural organisation would be particularly welcome, as would familiarity with Arts Council England/NPO funding.

The practical details

The contract runs from 1 October to 31 December 2026 and is expected to involve approximately 18 days across the three months, averaging six days per month. There is flexibility around how the days are scheduled, although regular availability throughout the contract will be important.
