For over 30 years, Impact Dance Academy has been empowering young people aged 11-19 to unlock their full potential through the art of Hip-Hop dance. Whether you’re looking to perform, grow your creativity, or develop life skills, we’re here to help you make a lasting impact.
WHY IMPACT DANCE ACADEMY?
At Impact, we offer more than just dance training, we believe in nurturing the whole individual. We provide a holistic experience that includes:
- World-Class Training: Learn from expert instructors, including our Artistic Director Hakeem Onibudo, and a team of experienced professionals who provide challenging, inspiring training to help you grow as a dancer.
- Real Performance Opportunities: Perform on local, national, and international stages. Highlights include The National Theatre, Sadler’s Wells, and the Centre for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta.
- Mentorship & Pastoral Support: We provide ongoing mentoring and pastoral care, helping students build confidence, leadership skills, and a strong sense of community while preparing them for success both on and off the stage.
- Pathways to Success: Many of our graduates go on to study at top dance schools like Urdang, London Studio Centre, and Rambert, while others use the skills they’ve learned to excel in various fields.

ACADEMY TERM TIMES
Impact Dance Academy follows a structured academic year to help students progress through their dance training:
- Spring Term: January – March
- Summer Term: April – July
- Autumn Term: September – December
With weekly classes and performance opportunities each term, students continuously improve their skills while staying engaged in the dance community.

OUR PROGRAMMES
At Impact Dance Academy, we offer a variety of dance training sessions, workshops, and opportunities to meet the needs of every dancer:
Impact Dance Academy
Every Saturday during term time we offer dynamic training sessions for ages 11-19. Our classes cover Hip-Hop, F.O.I.L (Foundation of Impact Language), creative movement, choreography, and Ballet for Hip-Hop artists, all aimed at fostering versatile dancers.
We also currently offer our academy members the opportunity to expand their dance vocabulary by attending weekly Contemporary dance sessions in collaboration with London Studio Centre.
Impact Dance: Training Group
The Training Group bridges the gap between the Academy and Youth Company level, providing focused development for dancers ready to push their technique, creativity, and performance skills to the next stage.
Impact Dance: Youth Company
Our flagship Youth Company offers advanced dancers the opportunity to train and perform at a pre-professional level. With a strong emphasis on creativity, collaboration, professionalism and stagecraft, the company develops versatile performers ready to make their mark in the dance world.
Impact Dance: Junior Academy
For younger dancers aged 8-11, our Junior Academy on a Thursday evening is the perfect introduction to Hip-Hop and creative movement in a fun, supportive setting.
Summer at Impact Dance
We’re passionate about giving our students enriching opportunities throughout the year, including:
- Summer School and Drop-in Workshops: A great way for young dancers to stay active, creative, and connected during the summer break. Open to all levels – including those not currently in the Academy – these fun, focused intensives explore different styles and techniques, helping participants build confidence and develop new skills in a supportive environment.
- Summer Residential Trip: A fun-filled getaway designed to give our Academy students a real holiday experience. With games, outdoor activities, and plenty of time to relax and bond, it’s all about building friendships and creating unforgettable memories outside of the studio.
- International Exchange: An exciting opportunity to travel, train, and perform in a new location. This immersive experience fosters growth, team bonding, and skill development for our Youth Company.
PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
At Impact Dance Academy, we provide regular performance opportunities that allow our students to showcase their talent and gain invaluable exposure:
- National & International Performances: Our students regularly perform at iconic venues like The National Theatre, Sadler’s Wells, and The Place, as well as take the stage at renowned events such as Move It.
- Youth Dance Collaborations: We run RE:DANCE the biggest outdoor celebration of youth dance every year at The Scoop as part of Summer by the River Festival. We also regularly partner with other Hip-Hop companies like Boy Blue. These collaborations offer students the chance to work alongside their peers in the dance community.
- Global Exposure: In 2024 our academy members performed at the Centre for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta as part of our Atlanta Exchange project with Lyrric Jackson Dance Company. In 2025 they showcased their talents at the Rampenlichter Festival in Munich, further expanding their global stage experience.

WHAT DOES IT COST TO JOIN IMPACT DANCE ACADEMY?
We are committed to making dance accessible to all. Our term fee is £80, and we offer bursaries for students requiring financial support. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to develop their talent, regardless of financial background.
