Katie Paling

Head of Communications

Katie is a freelance marketing professional with specialist skills in digital communications and experience of strategic planning and delivery across the creative industries. She provides strategic support and training to companies, organisations and education institutions. Katie has spent the majority of her career in the dance world, delivering communications strategies for touring, theatre, higher education and community projects at The Place (London), London Contemporary Dance School and Aakash Odedra Company. She devised one of the first live stream programmes in higher education in 2012, going on to produce and present London Contemporary Dance School’s Virtual Open Days. Katie led the social media and website content for Coventry City of Culture Trust and launched the UK’s first permanent digital art gallery, The Reel Store. Her work provides clients with a targeted creative approach to content creation, engagement and distribution, audience development and income generation. Most recently, Katie has worked across a number of large scale high-profile events, visual art exhibitions (in gallery and museum settings), concerts, theatre performances and community events. This has included The Turner Prize, Daniel Lismore’s Be Yourself Everyone Else is Already Taken, Nitin Sawhney’s Ghosts in the Ruins, BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend and Our Wilder Family, a record-breaking drone show. Katie has a BA (Hons) in Dance and Culture and has guest lectured in communications at London Contemporary Dance School, University of Winchester and Solihull College & University Centre.
