JOB DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATION

Purpose of the Role:

To deliver the day-to-day marketing and communications activity of Impact Dance and keep the communications channels on brand, up to date and reflective of the values of the company. To work on marketing campaigns, encourage new engagement with Impact Dance’s work and specifically to support income generation for the studio and inclusivity of access for young people to the academy.

This role is a key part of our creative dynamic team based at our studio in Central London.

Working with: Artistic Director, Business and Development Director, Producer, Head of Engagement, Academy Coordinator and a host of freelance teachers and choreographers

Key Responsibilities

Administration

• Contribute to the development of cohesive communications plans across all areas of the company’s work.    

• Keeping communications plans and progress up to date on central systems 

• Planning, creating and posting content across multiple social media channels 

• Updating the website, recommending and implementing changes 

• Updating industry and customer mailing lists and regularly reviewing data in line with GDPR, ensuring records are up to date  

• Developing and maintaining national and local press lists 

Creative

• Content creation – taking photos and video footage at our Saturday Academy and events throughout the year, to compile live and post event: posts, reels and stories under guidance from the senior team. 

• Develop accurate, passionate and on-brand copy to share the work, opportunities and impact of Impact Dance 

• To collaborate with the team on merchandise development ideas  

• To keep abreast of developments in social media, undertake training and bring ideas for development back to the team for discussion 

• Assist with the refreshing of physical assets (signage and promo materials for events and venue appearance) as required.  

General

• To attend and contribute to scheduled company meetings and team planning days

• Support the values and culture of the organisation

• Promote and advocate for the company and its work where appropriate

• Attend and support company events, sharings, performances and platforms

• To adhere to agreed company policy, practice and procedures including Health and Safety, Equality, Environmental and Safeguarding Policies.

• Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act.

• To contribute to team appraisals and project evaluation as appropriate.

• Any other duties that may reasonably be expected in order to support the delivery of the company’s aims and objectives.

PERSON SPECIFICATION 

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills, experience and personal qualities: 

Essential Skills, Knowledge & Experience 

• Experience and passion for delivering and/or supporting marketing campaigns in the creative sector   

• Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Office 365, any design and edit software eg. Canva and Adobe Photoshop, Figma, iMovie, Premiere, Final Cut or similar 

• Comfortable with feedback and direction from senior team members 

• A passion or interest in Youth Dance/Hip-Hop Dance  

• Experience and understanding of graphic design and asset creation for social media platforms  

• Highly skilled in producing accurate and engaging copywriting with attention to detail  

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – confident and articulate  

• Some photographic skills 

• Videography and editing skills (for social media)

Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience 

• Understanding of London arts and culture scene and Impact Dance’s role within it  

• Experience of working in the not-for-profit arts sector  

• Previous experience working in a team 

• Knowledge and experience of website content management systems and SEO 

• Experience of working to deliver marketing aligned with a brand identity  

Terms & Conditions Salary

• Fixed term Oct/Nov 2024 – 31 March 2026

• Part time 0.6 position 22.5 hours per week (3 days a week)

• Office based, Tuesdays and Thursdays essential, flexible hours can be negotiated.

• Infrequent evenings (on days set in advance) and some Saturdays to engage with Academy and Events will be required, for which TOIL will be granted.

• Salary £25,650 pro-rata per annum
